All Public Institutions on 'Climate Change' Gather... Busan Climate Change Council Seminar
APCC Hosts Seminar:
"How We Live in the Era of Climate Change"
A seminar will be held in which all public institutions in the Busan region that address climate change will participate.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Climate Center (APCC, Acting President Kim Hyungjin) announced on the 15th that the Busan Climate Change Council, which includes Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Hyungjoon), Busan Regional Meteorological Administration (Director Lee Eunjung), and Busan Institute for Regional Program Evaluation (Acting President Heo Yoonsu), will hold the "2025 Busan Climate Change Council Seminar" at the headquarters of the Korean Film Council in Busan on the 17th.
This seminar will be held under the theme "How We Live in the Era of Climate Change." It aims to examine the climate change phenomena that the Busan region will face and to provide a platform for meteorological and climate experts, as well as officials from government and various sectors of society, to share and discuss effective response measures. Any citizen interested in responding to the climate crisis in the local community is welcome to attend.
The seminar will begin with opening remarks by Lee Eunjung, Director of the Busan Regional Meteorological Administration, followed by four presentations. Hong Seongdae, Head of Climate Services at the Busan Regional Meteorological Administration, will present on "The Current State of Climate Change in Busan and ESG Management Support Policies." Kwon Minho, Head of the Ocean Climate Prediction Center at the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, will discuss "The Current State of Ocean Climate Change." Seo Giljong, Policy Officer of the Carbon Neutral Policy Division at Busan Metropolitan City, will introduce the "Carbon Neutral Practice Program." Next, Song Mikyung, Head of the Technology Innovation Center at Busan Environmental Corporation, will present "Outstanding Cases of Carbon Neutral Practice." A Q&A session will follow the presentations.
Kim Hyungjin, Acting President of APCC, stated, "This seminar will be a meaningful opportunity to understand the current state and impact of climate change in Busan and to share and explore concrete action plans for achieving carbon neutrality in the local community."

The Busan Climate Change Council is a public-private-academic consortium formed in March 2021. Busan Metropolitan City, Busan Regional Meteorological Administration, Busan Institute for Regional Program Evaluation, and APCC participate together to share climate change-related science and policy, aiming to implement carbon neutrality by 2050 and to jointly address climate change issues.
