KOSPI Surpasses 3,400 for the First Time on Foreign Buying; KOSDAQ Also Rises
Foreign Investors Net Buy 188 Billion Won on KOSPI
Samsung Electronics Up 2.12%, SK Hynix Up 1.98%
On September 15, the KOSPI surpassed the 3,400 mark for the first time ever, driven by foreign investor buying.
As of 9:16 a.m. on September 15, the KOSPI index was trading at 3,409.68, up 14.14 points (0.42%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 3,407.78, up 12.24 points (0.36%), and continued to climb, fluctuating around the 3,410 level. Foreign investors led the rally with net purchases totaling 188 billion won. In contrast, institutional investors recorded net sales of 137.3 billion won, while individual investors posted net sales of 35.9 billion won.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, large semiconductor stocks showed notable gains. Samsung Electronics (2.12%), SK Hynix (1.98%), Samsung Electronics Preferred (1.89%), Samsung C&T (1.42%), Samsung Life Insurance (1.38%), and LG Energy Solution (0.56%) all saw increases. On the other hand, Hanwha Ocean (-2.92%), Kia (-2.93%), Hyundai Motor (-2.91%), Doosan Enerbility (-2.30%), Kakao (-2.14%), Hyundai Mobis (-1.59%), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (-1.37%), HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (-1.32%), NAVER (-1.27%), and Celltrion (-0.76%) declined.
By industry, securities (4.42%), electrical and electronics (2.28%), metals (1.79%), medical precision equipment (1.39%), construction (1.20%), finance (1.20%), insurance (0.98%), and manufacturing (0.91%) sectors rose. In contrast, transportation and storage (-1.96%), entertainment and culture (-1.81%), transportation equipment and parts (-1.58%), general services (-1.21%), machinery and equipment (-1.06%), electricity and gas (-0.99%), IT services (-0.69%), and food, beverage and tobacco (-0.67%) sectors declined.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, HPSP (8.87%), Rainbow Robotics (3.14%), Caregen (2.09%), Ecopro (2.04%), Ecopro BM (1.51%), Leeno Industrial (1.22%), and EO Technics (1.15%) rose. In contrast, Pharmaresearch (-2.80%), Voronoi (-2.75%), ABL Bio (-1.90%), HLB (-1.79%), Samchundang Pharm (-1.65%), Kolon TissueGene (-1.61%), SM Entertainment (-1.54%), Hugel (-1.40%), Classys (-1.09%), and LIG ChemBio (-1.04%) declined.
