The Pinkfong Company to Exclusively Distribute "Pingu" in Korea
A Beloved Classic Broadcast in 150 Countries
Now Available on IPTV and OTT Platforms
The Pinkfong Company announced on September 15 that it will exclusively distribute the popular animation "Pingu" in South Korea.
Produced in Switzerland in 1986, "Pingu" is an analog stop-motion animation that depicts the daily lives of a penguin family living in Antarctica. With its family-oriented themes and timeless humor, the series has been broadcast in approximately 150 countries.
The Pinkfong Company will introduce a total of nine series and 209 episodes, including "Pingu Classic," "Pingu in the City," and "Pingu Special Shorts" (Wedding Party Panic). Starting from September 19, new episodes will be released every Friday through IPTV platforms such as KT Genie TV, LG U+, and Btv, as well as OTT services including Wavve, Tving, Watcha, and Laftel.
Previously, The Pinkfong Company formed a partnership with Mattel, which owns global intellectual properties such as "Barbie" and "Hot Wheels." Through joint marketing efforts, the company plans to expand "Pingu" into a global entertainment brand.
