The Gyeonggi Provincial Government will conduct an inspection by the end of this month on the management status of 110 public facility sites that have not been sold for at least two years after completion.

These public facility sites, which have remained unsold for over two years since completion, include 85 locations in 19 residential development districts such as Hyangnam 2 in Hwaseong, and 25 locations in 11 public housing districts such as Mokgam in Siheung.

Most of these sites have been left undeveloped and abandoned due to reasons such as insufficient administrative demand and lack of budget allocation, resulting in them remaining vacant lots.

In particular, even after the surrounding apartment complexes have been fully occupied, the public facility sites have not been utilized, leading to deteriorated landscapes and a shortage of public facilities, which continues to inconvenience residents.

In this inspection, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government will focus on the following: the current use and future utilization plans for unsold public facility sites; the intentions and plans of designated purchasing agencies to acquire these sites, as well as reasons for any delays in acquisition; and plans for changing the use or complex utilization of sites where the purchase has been abandoned.

The provincial government will designate special management zones, conduct on-site inspections and working meetings, and gather opinions from project developers and local governments to devise effective utilization plans.

Additionally, the scope of the inspection will be expanded to include districts that have not yet been completed, allowing for a preliminary review of supply conditions and purchase plans, and strengthening coordination between agencies and project developers.

An official from the Gyeonggi Provincial Government stated, "We will do our utmost not only to manage and inspect unsold sites, but also to reorganize public facility site plans in order to alleviate the inconvenience of residents and citizens."
