It was planned as a multi-cultural event blending culture, community, and urban regeneration. The city has been promoting the Geumgok-dong Urban Regeneration New Deal Project since being selected by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2017, aiming to revitalize the old downtown and restore historical and cultural assets.
At the festival site, a variety of programs were offered for citizens to participate in and enjoy, including: △ exhibitions and presentations of works by community education participants △ a singing contest △ an urban regeneration promotion center △ hands-on activities and a flea market △ a food market △ cultural performances △ and commendations for exemplary citizens.
In particular, the 'Geumgok-dong Residents Singing Contest' brought together participants from a wide range of generations, from Geumgok High School students to middle-aged and older residents, adding excitement to the festival. Club performances featuring folk songs, harmonica, and line dance received enthusiastic responses from the audience, while the 'Wish Lantern Making' activity, which families participated in together, delivered a heartwarming experience and drew significant attention.
Meanwhile, the urban regeneration promotion center and resident-led booths served as platforms for communication, sharing the achievements and changes of the urban regeneration project with citizens, adding further significance to the festival.
Additionally, during the commendation ceremony held on the same day, 11 citizens who contributed to the development of the local community were honored with awards.
