7.4-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Near Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula...Tsunami Warning Issued
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 struck near the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia's Far East on September 13.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) announced that at 11:37 a.m. local time, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake occurred 111 kilometers east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on the Kamchatka Peninsula. The epicenter was located at latitude 53.104 degrees and longitude 160.294 degrees, with a depth of 39 kilometers.
The United States Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) stated that there is a possibility of a tsunami as a result of this earthquake.
However, no tsunami warning was issued in Japan, which is located to the southwest of the Kamchatka Peninsula.
