Gangneung City to Supply Water Twice Daily
Three Hours Each in the Morning and Evening

On September 13, officials from Gangneung City and representatives responsible for apartment water restrictions held a meeting in the large conference room on the second floor of the city hall. They agreed to standardize the restricted water supply schedule for apartments with water tanks of 100 tons or more, implementing it twice a day-from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.-with each session lasting three hours. The improved water restriction system will be applied starting from the afternoon of the same day.

On September 12, Kim Hongkyu, the mayor of Gangneung City, stated at a drought response disaster safety headquarters meeting, "After implementing apartment water restrictions for a week, differences in supply times and methods by apartment have caused increasing confusion among residents." He instructed, "As a long-term and sustainable water-saving measure, we will establish a unified water supply schedule."

In response, Gangneung Deputy Mayor Kim Sangyoung held a second meeting with apartment water restriction officials on September 13, listened to the issues and difficulties encountered on-site, and discussed improvement measures.

Reflecting these opinions, Gangneung City improved the system to ensure a stable supply of domestic water during designated times and to minimize inconvenience and confusion for residents. The city also requested active promotion from relevant parties to encourage households to continue water-saving efforts.

Mayor Kim Hongkyu said, "In consultation with apartment water restriction officials, we will switch to a system of supplying water twice a day, for three hours each, at the same times starting from the afternoon of September 13." He added, "We will continue to listen to feedback and make improvements to minimize inconvenience for residents amid this unprecedented drought situation."
