View original imageAccording to an analysis of tourism big data by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the Gangwon Tourism Organization, the number of visitors to Taebaek in July 2025 increased by 20.7% compared to the same month last year, and by 47.6% compared to the previous month.
This surge is attributed to Taebaek's climatic advantage as a "highland city without tropical nights" even during the nationwide heatwave, combined with the success of the 10th Han River and Nakdong River Headwaters Festival. The spread of Taebaek's image as a "refreshing summer resort" through media and social networks also appears to have contributed to the increase in visitors.
