Police Restrict 'Anti-China Protests' from Entering Myeongdong Starting Today
The police have prohibited 'anti-China protests,' which have been ongoing near the Chinese Embassy in Myeongdong, Seoul, from entering the Myeongdong area.
According to the police on September 12, Namdaemun Police Station in Seoul issued a restriction notice to groups such as 'Mincho Gyeolsadae,' which had reported plans to hold rallies and marches near the Chinese Embassy at 7:30 p.m. that day, prohibiting them from entering Myeongdong.
Previously, rallies were allowed on side roads within Myeongdong, with restrictions to minimize entry within 100 meters of the Chinese Embassy. However, as of this day, entry into Myeongdong itself has been completely prohibited.
The police also issued a restriction notice banning 'acts that provoke conflict,' such as swearing or assault during rallies or marches, in order to prevent unnecessary friction with diplomatic envoys and tourists.
