View original imageYeongam County in South Jeolla Province announced on September 11 that it had won the Grand Prize in the Public Investment category at the 1st Industrial Complex Structural Advancement Awards, which took place at KINTEX in Seoul on September 10.
This award ceremony was organized for the first time by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation to discover and promote outstanding cases of industrial complex structural advancement projects nationwide.
The county was selected as an exemplary case for its "Daebul Industrial Complex Multipurpose Cultural Center Project," which created a space integrating cultural arts, welfare, and convenience functions, and for presenting a residential-type industrial complex model where both longtime residents and newcomers can come together.
The Daebul Industrial Complex Multipurpose Cultural Center, which opened in October 2023, is equipped with a small movie theater, gallery, community hall, and workwear laundry, and is used by more than 4,600 people annually. The center offers over 30 cultural arts courses, Korean language classes for migrant workers, a global soccer league, movie screenings, and cultural ecology tours, among other programs, thereby improving the quality of life for industrial complex workers and their families and revitalizing the local community.
