Police to Strengthen Safety Around Elementary Schools... "Active Checks and Searches"
Promoting Abduction and Kidnapping Prevention Guidelines
The National Police Agency announced that it will strengthen preventive measures following a series of abduction and enticement incidents targeting minors near schools.
Police officers will be deployed intensively near schools and on major school routes nationwide during elementary school commuting hours, when children are most likely to be present. Officers will proactively conduct stop-and-search operations if they spot suspicious individuals, such as those lingering around children, carrying dangerous objects, or vehicles parked for extended periods of time.
The police will also conduct joint patrols in cooperation with child safety guardians, Green Mothers, and voluntary crime prevention groups, as well as other community safety organizations. Local government CCTV control centers plan to strengthen video surveillance as well.
School Police Officers (SPOs) will work with metropolitan and provincial offices of education to provide and promote abduction and kidnapping prevention guidelines for students and parents.
