Yongin City and Yongin Policy Research Institute to Hold 'Yongin Semiconductor Conference' on the 18th
Sharing the Current Status of the Semiconductor Belt
Discussing Innovation Strategies and Cooperation Measures
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province, in collaboration with the Yongin Policy Research Institute, will host the '2025 Yongin Semiconductor Conference' at the Yongin Media Center on September 18.
This conference has been organized to expand the network among the semiconductor industry, academia, research institutes, and government, aiming to promote balanced regional development and enhance national industrial competitiveness.
Under the theme 'Yongin Special City Advancing as a Global Semiconductor Hub,' the event will share the current status of the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster in Wonsam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, as well as the development of the Advanced System Semiconductor National Industrial Complex in Idong and Namsa-eup. It will also discuss future innovation strategies and cooperation measures.
More than 150 participants, including Mayor Lee Sangil of Yongin and representatives from the industry, academia, research institutes, and government, are expected to attend the event.
During the conference, Mayor Lee Sangil will present his vision and policy direction for Yongin's advancement as a global semiconductor hub. Jeong Deokgyun, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Seoul National University, will highlight the significance of the semiconductor cluster as a key space for the nation's future strategy.
In the keynote speeches, Yeom Yongseop, Senior Research Fellow at SK Management & Economics Research Institute, will speak on 'Technological Innovation and Changes in Life in the AI Semiconductor Era,' while Park Sungjin, Professor at POSTECH, will present on 'Strategies for Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration Driving Regional Development.'
At the roundtable discussion, participants will exchange views on the topic 'How Can a Sustainable Semiconductor City Be Achieved?' and will freely respond to questions from the audience.
