Woman in Her 70s Arrested for Assaulting Assemblyman Sung Iljong at National Assembly Event
A woman in her 70s has been apprehended by police for assaulting Assemblyman Sung Iljong of the People Power Party.
On September 10, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced that they have booked a woman in her 70s, identified as Ms. A, on charges of assault and are currently investigating the case.
Ms. A is accused of slapping Assemblyman Sung during an event held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, at approximately 1:48 p.m. that day.
At the time, National Assembly officials and others detained Ms. A and handed her over to the police. Assemblyman Sung reportedly did not sustain any serious injuries.
