Seoul to Survey Non-Station Areas... Seeking to Identify Regions with Growth Potential
Survey and Analysis of Non-Station Areas to Be Conducted
Identifying Regions with High Development Potential
The Seoul Metropolitan Government will conduct a comprehensive survey of underdeveloped non-station areas to identify regions with high growth potential and seek strategies for revitalization.
On September 10, the city announced plans to establish a "Strategy for Revitalizing Areas with Growth Potential," focusing on non-station areas.
The core of this survey is to comprehensively identify areas with high development potential by examining public transportation accessibility, infrastructure, and regional conditions. The city decided to launch the survey, judging that it is time to revitalize non-station areas for the efficient utilization of the city and balanced development.
The city plans to conduct a comprehensive review of residential areas that have lagged behind in development, focusing on connectivity between station and non-station areas, floating population, and the potential for expanding public transportation, daily social overhead capital, and green spaces.
Based on the results of the survey, the city will promote improvements in living environments, such as the supply of residential and commercial functions, daily social overhead capital, pedestrian environments, and green spaces, in areas deemed to have favorable conditions in terms of public transportation and infrastructure. For areas with growth potential, the city will develop regional revitalization models and support their commercialization.

Cho Namjun, head of the Seoul Urban Space Headquarters, stated, "This survey will serve as a turning point to systematically diagnose areas that have not received much attention and transform them into future growth hubs. We will make multifaceted efforts to inject new vitality into the city as a whole, not only in station areas but throughout the entire urban landscape."
