The "Reading and Drawing Classics" category is open to elementary school students and out-of-school youth of the same age group (ages 7 to 12). Participants are required to read one of the three books designated by the Korean Classics Translation Institute-"The Dog with Three Eyes," "Aha! Secrets Found in Nature," or "I Am a Goblin Who Eats Stories!"-and submit an illustration based on the chosen book online. These books can be found in the "Popularization of Classics" section of the Korean Classics Translation Institute's e-book library.
Awards for this category include: one Grand Prize winner (Minister of Education Award, prize money of 500,000 won), three Excellence Award winners (President of the Korean Classics Translation Institute Award, prize money of 300,000 won each), and six Encouragement Award winners (President of the Korean Classics Translation Institute Award, prize money of 200,000 won each).
The "Famous Classical Quotes" category invites participants to reinterpret the wisdom and lessons found in the classics featured in the Korean Classical Literature Comprehensive Database, creating short and meaningful quotes with explanations in a modern context. Anyone in the country can participate, and a total of six winners will be selected to receive the President of the Korean Classics Translation Institute Award and prize money of 300,000 won each.
