Nearly 15,000 Register for Jeonnam CSAT... Up 7.3% from Last Year
Provincial Office of Education:
"Ensuring Stable Test Administration
and Full Support for Test-Takers"
The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on September 8 that a total of 14,952 students have registered for the 2026 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), marking an increase of 1,011 students (7.3%) compared to the previous year’s 13,941 registrants.
The number of current students reached 12,165, up by 973 from last year, while the number of graduates and qualification exam takers was 2,787, an increase of 38. Registration for the CSAT was conducted until September 5 at high schools across the province and at the education support offices in the seven test districts of Mokpo, Yeosu, Suncheon, Naju, Gwangyang, Damyang, and Haenam.
In terms of applicant composition, current students accounted for 81.4% (12,165), graduates for 15.5% (2,325), and other applicants, including qualification exam takers, for 3.1% (462). By gender, there were 7,398 male students (49.5%) and 7,554 female students (50.5%), each increasing by 508 and 503 respectively compared to the previous year.
Looking at the number of applicants by subject area: 14,747 (98.6%) chose Korean, 13,747 (91.9%) chose Mathematics, 14,481 (96.8%) chose English, and all 14,952 applicants selected Korean History, which is a mandatory subject. For the elective subjects, 14,228 (95.2%) chose the Social/Science Inquiry section, and 1,570 (10.5%) selected the Second Foreign Language/Chinese Characters section.

Jeon Seonga, Director of Career Education, stated, "With the increase in applicants, we will do our utmost to ensure the stable administration of the test and provide support to maximize convenience for test-takers." She also requested, "We ask each school to provide attentive guidance so that students can prepare as thoroughly as possible during the remaining period."
