According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, the fire started at around 5:28 p.m. on September 7 at a recycled plastic raw material warehouse in Sangdong-myeon, Gimhae.
As a result of the fire, one raw material warehouse and one nearby furniture factory warehouse, totaling 2,190 square meters, were completely destroyed. The fire department estimated the property damage at around 800 million won.
No casualties were reported, as there were no people inside the warehouse at the time of the fire.
The fire authorities issued Level 1 Fire Response at 7:18 p.m., mobilizing 31 to 50 pieces of equipment from 3 to 7 fire stations, and brought the main fire under control by 9:08 p.m.
Because there were 300 tons of plastic raw materials inside the warehouse, firefighting efforts were challenging. The fire was finally extinguished at 11:03 a.m. on September 8, the day after the incident.
A total of 187 personnel and 43 pieces of equipment were mobilized at the scene.
The burned warehouses were used to store plastic raw materials and furniture, and were not production facilities.
