This donation will be used to help Gangneung City overcome the drought, as the prolonged dry spell has made it difficult for residents to secure daily water supplies.
Kim Eunsook, who is originally from Gangneung, said, "After hearing about the great inconvenience and hardship local residents are experiencing due to the drought, I decided to make a donation, even if it is a small contribution. I am worried that the drought will continue, as there is still no forecast of rain in Gangneung. I hope that rain will come soon and improve the situation."
Both individuals are members of the Hope Bridge Honors Club, a group of major donors. Since their initial donation following the Sewol ferry disaster in 2014, they have continued to support relief efforts during national disasters such as floods, wildfires, and earthquakes.
Kim Heeyoon, Head of Fundraising at Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association, said, "I would like to thank both of them for their meaningful contributions during this severe drought. Our association will actively use this donation to provide emergency water supplies to neighbors who are struggling due to water shortages."
