Ulju County to Inspect Safety of Children's Favorite Foods Ahead of School Reopening
Ulju County in Ulsan will conduct hygiene inspections of food preparation and sales establishments catering to children within food safety protection zones around schools, ahead of the start of the fall semester.
On September 8, Ulju County announced that it will form inspection teams consisting of public officials and consumer food hygiene inspectors to carry out on-site guidance and inspections over two days, on September 11 and 12. This inspection aims to create a safe food purchasing environment in areas around schools and academies that are frequented by students.
The main inspection items include: compliance with expiration dates and proper storage temperatures for refrigerated and frozen foods; whether foods that may negatively affect children's emotional development are being sold; sterilization and disinfection management of kitchen utensils in cooking facilities; and personal hygiene management of staff, such as wearing sanitary hats. Additionally, processed foods sold at unmanned stores and other locations will be collected and tested to prevent food poisoning.
If any violations are found as a result of the inspections, administrative action will be taken in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
