Korean Intellectual Property Office Hosts Roadshow to Promote Private Sector Transfer and Commercialization of Outstanding Public Technologies
On September 8, the Korean Intellectual Property Office announced that it will host the "2025 Inter-Ministerial Public Technology Transfer and Commercialization Roadshow" at the Science and Technology Convention Center. The event aims to promote the transfer and commercialization of outstanding public technologies to the private sector.
The roadshow is jointly organized by ten government ministries: the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Rural Development Administration, the Korea Forest Service, the Korea Aerospace Administration, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Each ministry and its affiliated agencies have identified 1,863 promising technologies from 117 research and development institutions (including 64 universities, 51 public research institutes, and 2 hospitals) that were developed through government R&D. The roadshow is designed as a venue for technology transfer consultations and presentations targeting companies in need of these technologies.
At the event, the University of Seoul will sign an agreement with Yuchang Co., Ltd., a company specializing in architectural interior materials, for the transfer of technology. The technology to be transferred is a "ceiling structure and construction method for installing sound-absorbing materials to improve the acoustic environment inside buildings," developed by the University of Seoul. Its main advantage is that it allows sound-absorbing materials to be securely fixed to the ceiling, while also improving ease of installation.
The Korea Polar Research Institute will sign an agreement to transfer its "method and device for predicting annual vegetation changes using forecasted meteorological factors" to Aircon4U Co., Ltd., a company specializing in air-conditioning systems. This technology, developed in response to climate change such as global warming, can predict the intensity and phase of plant activity based on historical vegetation data and other factors.
Four exhibition booths for products and technologies will also be operated at the roadshow. Hanyang University will unveil its "spatiotemporal inference-based space traffic control system" in this space. The system features collision avoidance technology that enables satellites to safely maintain their orbits, and provides visualization functions for space environment, security, and traffic maps. Currently, it is being provided as a service to the United States Space Force (USSF).
