LS Cable Commercializes Korea's First MV Fire-Resistant Cable
Enhanced Safety for AI Data Centers and Semiconductor Factories
Meets New International Fire-Resistance Standards
Maintains Power Supply at 830°C
Simplified Installation with a Single Cable
Improved Fire Response for Skyscrapers and Large Shopping Malls
A fire-resistant cable has been developed that not only enhances fire safety in multi-use facilities such as artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, semiconductor factories, skyscrapers, and large shopping malls, but also significantly improves the safety of on-site workers in high-power installations.

View original imageOn September 8, LS Cable announced that it has commercialized the country's first medium-voltage (MV) fire-resistant cable that meets the new international fire-resistance standard (IEC 60331-4).
This product can maintain power supply even at high temperatures of 830°C, making it ideal for high-power infrastructure such as data centers, semiconductor factories, and large-scale multi-use facilities. Fire-resistant cables are essential for emergency power, evacuation equipment, and fire protection systems that must maintain power for a certain period during a fire.
Previously, due to the absence of domestic standards, a complex construction method was used, which involved covering ordinary cables with fireproof paint and ducts. This resulted in increased space and cost burdens, as well as a heightened risk of safety accidents during work at elevated locations. However, this new product simplifies installation by replacing the traditional three-step process (cable + paint + duct) with a single cable, thereby reducing installation space and costs. Most importantly, it greatly enhances the safety of on-site workers.
In December last year, LS Cable completed performance evaluations by a nationally accredited certification body simultaneously with the establishment of the international standard for MV fire-resistant cables, and immediately succeeded in commercializing the product.

In 2019, LS Cable became the first in the industry to obtain the 'National Disaster Safety Product Certification' for low-voltage (LV) high fire-resistant cables. This product can supply power for 180 minutes at 950°C, securing more than 1.5 times the fire golden time compared to standard products (830°C for 120 minutes).
