Gyeonggi Convergence Town to Pilot CCTV AI System in Open Areas
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government will pilot the introduction of an artificial intelligence (AI) system to the existing closed-circuit (CC) TVs installed in open areas such as the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex and Gyeonggi Damteul within the Suwon Gwanggyo "Gyeonggi Convergence Town."
The CCTV AI system will analyze unusual situations in real time, such as people collapsing, fighting, crowd formation, vehicle movement, and fires, and will immediately display alerts on the administrator's screen when such situations occur.
Gyeonggi Province has decided to proceed with a pilot project to introduce the CCTV AI system in Gyeonggi Convergence Town. The design will be completed in September, and installation is scheduled to be finished by the first half of 2026.
The pilot project will be implemented on key sections of approximately 300 CCTV cameras managed by Gyeonggi Province within Gyeonggi Convergence Town.
The CCTV cameras managed by Gyeonggi Province in Gyeonggi Convergence Town are expected to help selectively monitor safety blind spots and reduce the burden of response, addressing the reality that a small number of personnel cannot continuously monitor all screens.
Gyeonggi Province explained that this project is meaningful because it actively utilizes the existing CCTV infrastructure, thereby reducing unnecessary costs such as installing new equipment, improving the efficiency of budget execution, and enhancing safety at the same time.
