Minister Hwiyeong Choi of Culture, Sports and Tourism Holds Meeting with National Academy of Arts Executives
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that on the afternoon of September 5, Minister Hwiyeong Choi visited the National Academy of Arts and met with President Shin Sujeong and other executives. During the meeting, he expressed his gratitude for their contributions in laying the foundation for the development of Korean culture and arts, and engaged in a cordial conversation.
The meeting was attended by Shin Sujeong, President of the National Academy of Arts; Son Jinchaek, Vice President; Jeong Hyeonjong, Chair of the Literature Division; Choi Uisun, Chair of the Fine Arts Division; Lee Manbang, Chair of the Music Division; and Park Myungsook, Chair of the Theater, Film, and Dance Division.

Minister Hwiyeong Choi stated, "Thanks to the members of the National Academy of Arts, who represent our country and have built the foundation of Korean culture and arts, K-Art has captured the hearts of people worldwide, as seen in Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature and Park Chunhyu's original musical 'Maybe Happy Ending' winning a Tony Award. The government will also actively support culture and the arts, ushering in the era of 300 trillion won for 'K-Culture' and establishing Korea as a cultural powerhouse where culture flourishes."
Minister Choi especially emphasized, "We will focus our investments on basic arts such as literature, music, and fine arts, which are the foundation of K-Culture. We will create a free creative environment and a welfare safety net so that artists can devote themselves to their creative work with peace of mind. In addition, we will strategically support the overseas expansion of key K-Art sectors and provide policy support so that outstanding domestic performances and exhibitions can be enjoyed in local regions as well."
President Shin Sujeong congratulated the Minister on his appointment and said, "For Korean culture and arts, which are receiving global attention, to further develop, bold and expanded support at the government level is necessary. Going forward, members of the Academy will also actively propose policies to promote the arts."
