On September 5, Gimpo City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Byungsoo) saw an explosive response to its newly released KakaoTalk emoticon set, "How About a Festival with Posu and Pomi in Gimpo (Autumn)?", as all 25,000 sets were distributed within just 18 minutes of launch.

Even excluding cases where existing friends unsubscribed and then re-added the channel, this figure is considered a highly unusual achievement within such a short period.
The city planned and produced the emoticons with the goal of increasing the number of KakaoTalk channel friends, aiming to deliver city news quickly and communicate more closely with citizens. Through this distribution, Gimpo City successfully achieved its objectives.
The emoticons were distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to 25,000 new channel subscribers starting at 2 p.m. on September 5. The set includes 16 frequently used expressions such as "Thank you," "Sorry," and "Leaving work on time," making it both practical and entertaining. Additionally, the emoticons naturally feature Gimpo's iconic autumn destinations and festivals, such as the Korea Reading Festival in Gimpo, the Laveniche Festival, and the Aegibong Peace Ecological Park.
Even after the distribution ended, citizens continued to post questions and requests through social media comments, such as "I added the channel but couldn't get it. Is it over?", "I'm so disappointed I missed it," and "Is there any way to receive the emoticons again?" Those who received the emoticons also expressed high satisfaction, saying, "They're so cute," "Thirty days is too short, is there a version to keep?", and "I'm already looking forward to season 3."
Gimpo City will conduct a satisfaction survey from September 8 to 19, collecting citizen feedback to inform future content planning. The survey will cover basic items such as emoticon usage and design satisfaction, as well as the effectiveness of the distribution, and the results will be actively used in the production of season 3.
