Yongin City Sets Next Year's Living Wage at 11,930 Won
2.2% Increase from This Year
1,610 Won Higher Than the Minimum Wage
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on September 5 that it has finalized the hourly living wage for next year at 11,930 won, following a review by the Living Wage Deliberation Committee on September 3.
The living wage is set above the legal minimum wage and is intended to ensure workers can maintain a minimum standard of human dignity and cultural life. It applies to approximately 1,460 workers employed by the city and its funded or invested institutions.
The newly set living wage is a 2.2% increase from this year's 11,670 won. It is 1,610 won higher than the government-announced statutory minimum hourly wage for next year, which is 10,320 won.
When converted to a monthly wage based on 209 working hours, the amount is 2,493,370 won, an increase of 54,340 won compared to this year.
The committee determined the living wage after comprehensively considering the increase rate of next year's government minimum wage, the city's financial conditions, and the overall wage level of workers.
