Construction Company Owner in Daejeon Indicted for Jeonse Fraud
First Trial Scheduled for October 1
Mr. A Retains Legal Counsel
It was belatedly confirmed that a construction company owner who operated a private telecommunications company in Daejeon has been brought to trial on charges of jeonse fraud.
According to the legal community on September 4, the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office recently indicted Mr. A (in his 50s), who runs a construction company, without detention on charges of fraud.
According to the prosecution, between 2020 and 2022, Mr. A is accused of defrauding four victims out of a total of approximately 520 million won, with individual amounts ranging from a minimum of 120 million won to a maximum of 150 million won, under the pretense of jeonse deposits.
The crimes were committed during the period when Mr. A was operating a private telecommunications company. Mr. A had already been brought to trial for similar jeonse fraud schemes and was indicted again for additional offenses.
The prosecution requested the consolidation of the two cases, and the court (Daejeon District Court Criminal Division 12 Single Judge) accepted the request, so the cases will be tried together.
