Hapcheon County Launches "Children First" Safety Campaign for Kids
Creating a Safe Environment Around Elementary Schools
at the Start of the New Semester
Hapcheon County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on September 4 that it had conducted a children's safety campaign around the intersection in front of Hapcheon Elementary School and Samsung Hapcheon Hospital to mark the start of the new semester for elementary schools.
More than 60 participants, including County Governor Kim Yooncheol, Hapcheon County Office officials, Principal Lee Hyojeong and faculty from Hapcheon Elementary School, Hapcheon County Safety Monitors, and the Children Safety Heroes, took part in the campaign. Under the catchphrase "Children First," they held a street campaign to foster a culture of child safety.
This campaign was organized to create a safe educational environment by proactively eliminating factors that threaten children's safety around schools, such as violations of traffic laws, substandard food, hazardous environments, illegal advertisements, and uncertified products. In addition, the campaign promoted the Safety Report Center to encourage the public to report everyday safety hazards.
In particular, 18 members of the 'Children Safety Heroes,' a group comprised of local elementary students, participated in the campaign. They attracted attention by promoting the Safety Report Center and sharing reporting methods with their peers and local residents.
Governor Kim Yooncheol expressed his gratitude, saying, "I would like to thank the Safety Heroes students who participated in the campaign and the local residents who actively supported our efforts. I hope the community will continue to work together so that children can feel safe in their school life."
