Seocho District to Host “Neighborhood Festivals” Across the District in September
Seocho District in Seoul (District Mayor Jeon Seongsoo) announced on September 4 that it will host a series of neighborhood festivals throughout September, each featuring unique programs tailored to each local community.
On September 6, the “Seoil Starlight Festa” will take place at the Seoul National University of Education sports field in Seocho 1-dong. The event will include an AI art contest, hands-on booths, and a bazaar. As dusk falls, the movie Zootopia will be screened.
On September 18, the “GoGo Festival” will be held at the Banpo 3-dong Community Center, transforming the plaza into a playground for children and the rooftop sky garden into a screening venue for the movie Inside Out. On September 26, the “Mat Theater” will be held at Yangjae Neighborhood Park in Yangjae 2-dong, featuring a children’s drawing contest and a movie screening program.
The Bangbae Festival, a cultural festival for the Bangbae area, will be held on September 13 at Cheonggwonsa. The event will offer traditional games such as Jegichagi and Yutnori, traditional tea tasting, Hanbok etiquette lessons, flower rice cake making, as well as performances of vocal music, Korean traditional music, and popular music.
On September 20, the “Doguro Festival” will be held in Bangbae 2-dong, featuring high-tech experiences such as drone demonstrations, AI Go, and VR sports, alongside a residents’ singing contest and a children’s choir performance. On the same day, the “Jamwon Naru Festival” will take place at Jamwon Sports Park. The event will feature a reenactment of the “Royal Silkworm Ceremony,” where a Joseon Dynasty queen raises silkworms, and a performance involving the AI robot “Titan,” offering a special stage that blends tradition and advanced technology.
