With a total project cost of 46.6 billion won, the plan includes replacing 81.4 kilometers of aging water pipes, conducting leak detection and restoration at 335 sites, and establishing a geographic information system (GIS) over 45.6 kilometers, all to be carried out over six years from 2026 to 2031.
The project is expected to raise the water supply efficiency to 85%, saving 1.5 million tons of tap water and 1.8 billion won in the budget annually. In addition, by replacing pipelines that are more than 30 years old, even cleaner and clearer tap water is expected to be supplied to the old downtown areas of Wonju.
