Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyun Jae) held its September monthly meeting at the city hall auditorium on the 3rd, where the city shared key administrative achievements from the previous month and reviewed the main focus areas for this month. In the area of transportation, he presented examples of enhanced citizen convenience, such as the implementation of the Seoul Climate Companion Card and the launch of the 9302-1 metropolitan bus route. In education, he highlighted the selection of Namhan High School as a final winner in the Ministry of Education's "Autonomous Public High School 2.0" competition, emphasizing efforts to strengthen the region's educational competitiveness.
Regarding culture, he shared updates on major autumn events such as the Stage Hanam busking performances, Citizens' Day sports festival, and the Iseong Fortress Festival. He urged all departments to make thorough preparations, stating, "Please ensure that we provide citizens with enjoyable and memorable experiences."
During the meeting, awards were also presented to outstanding departments and employees in the civil service processing evaluation for the first half of 2025. Mayor Lee emphasized the importance of delivering trusted administration through qualitative improvements in administrative services. Hanam City has received the Presidential Award for two consecutive years in the comprehensive civil service evaluation.

View original imagePresident Choi, an authority in the field of transportation who studied transportation engineering and planning at Seoul National University and the University of Illinois in the United States, previously served as the inaugural chair of the Metropolitan Area Transportation Committee. He currently leads education and research as president of Ajou University.
In his special lecture, titled "Narrative for a Better Hanam, Our Attitude," President Choi discussed the strengths of Hanam City as a young city at the forefront of the Seoul metropolitan area. He identified two core challenges for building a self-sustaining city in anticipation of a population of 500,000: "transportation" and "culture."
For transportation, he proposed expanding metropolitan railways, introducing smart mobility, innovating public transportation services, and creating a safer transportation environment. In the cultural sector, he suggested strategies for a sophisticated cultural city and the establishment of a tourism belt that combines major projects with local cultural heritage.
President Choi emphasized, "Ultimately, people are the agents of policy implementation, and the attitude and innovation of public officials are the starting point for change."
