Korea Baseball Hall of Fame Breaks Ground in Gijang County on the 16th... Completion Targeted for End of 2026
Gijang County in Busan (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on September 3 that it will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Korea Baseball Hall of Fame (Baseball Museum), the nation's only official and public baseball museum, on September 16 at the Ilgwang Recreation Area site in Gijang County.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be attended by baseball figures, local residents, and related organizations, who will gather to celebrate the launch of the Hall of Fame, which will usher in a new century for Korean baseball.
This project is a symbolic initiative commemorating 120 years of Korean baseball and 40 years since the launch of professional baseball, and is being promoted through an agreement between Gijang County, Busan City, and the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO). It is expected to serve as a central hub connecting the past, present, and future of Korean baseball.
The facility will be constructed with one basement level and three above-ground floors, with a total floor area of approximately 2,998 square meters. It will be a multi-purpose cultural space featuring exhibition halls, the Hall of Fame, and hands-on educational areas, with completion targeted for the end of 2026.
