Chungnam to Support Health Examinations for Retired Firefighters
Ordinance Passed by Provincial Council
Support for Special Health Examination Costs for Retired Firefighters for 10 Years After Retirement
Retired firefighters in Chungnam Province will receive support for special health examination costs for up to 10 years to ensure they do not fall into health care blind spots.
On September 3, the Chungnam Provincial Council announced that the Construction and Firefighting Committee had passed the "Ordinance on Support for Special Health Examinations for Retired Firefighters in Chungcheongnam-do," sponsored by Assemblyman Cho Cheolgi (Asan 4, Democratic Party of Korea), during the 361st extraordinary session.
Under the current system, special health examinations are conducted while firefighters are in service, but support is discontinued after retirement, resulting in a gap in health management.
This ordinance stipulates that retired firefighters who have resided in Chungnam and served for at least 10 years will be eligible for support for examination costs for 10 years following retirement.
However, if a similar examination is received under other laws or ordinances, support for that year will be excluded.
The ordinance also includes details such as specifying examination items, designating examination institutions, application procedures, and establishing cooperative systems.
