KB Kookmin Doubles Staff and Upgrades AI to Prevent 22.5 Billion Won in Voice Phishing Losses in One Month
KB Kookmin Bank announced on September 3 that, by more than doubling the number of staff dedicated to voice phishing monitoring and upgrading its artificial intelligence (AI) system, it detected over 1,300 fraudulent accounts and prevented approximately 22.5 billion won in damages in just the past month.
To effectively respond to the increasing number of voice phishing crimes and minimize customer losses, KB Kookmin Bank has been fully strengthening its "Voice Phishing Damage Prevention" system since last month.
First, the number of staff assigned to voice phishing monitoring was increased from 11 to 25 last month. These additional personnel are responsible for the core task of monitoring to prevent voice phishing, as well as analyzing and focusing on detecting crime types that have seen a recent surge in incidents.
The AI-based voice phishing monitoring system has also been enhanced. The AI now independently analyzes cases of damage to detect suspicious transaction patterns in advance and has improved functionality to enable swift preventive measures such as immediate account payment suspension. After the government launches its "Voice Phishing AI Platform" next month and data accumulates, this system is expected to provide even more precise and customized detection.
Through these efforts, KB Kookmin Bank stated that it prevented 1,306 fraudulent accounts and approximately 22.5 billion won in damages over the past month.
