Entering Side by Side with Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin
On September 3, North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un attended a reception commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War (Victory Day).
Chairman Kim entered the Victory Day reception hall, held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, walking side by side with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. President Xi was positioned in the center, with Chairman Kim and President Putin walking to his left and right, respectively.
Earlier that morning, Chairman Kim attended the Victory Day military parade held at Tiananmen in Beijing. Together with President Xi and President Putin, Chairman Kim stood on the viewing platform to observe the parade, a scene that was broadcast to audiences around the world.
This marks the first time in 66 years that the top leaders of North Korea, China, and Russia have appeared together in an official setting since the North Korea-Soviet Union-China summit in Beijing in September 1959, and it is the first such occurrence since the end of the Cold War.
