Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province has achieved the distinction of being selected as an excellent institution in the 'Korea Safety Transformation 2025 Intensive Safety Inspection' evaluation, organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. With this, the city has been recognized as an excellent institution for four consecutive years.
With this latest recognition, Yangsan City continues its streak as an excellent institution for four consecutive years, having received the 'Excellent' rating in 2022, 'Best' in 2023, and 'Excellent' again in 2024.
The '2025 Intensive Safety Inspection' evaluation was newly structured based on 22 detailed indicators across five categories: general matters, selection of inspection targets, inspection methods, follow-up measures, and the spread of safety culture. Yangsan City earned the 'Excellent' rating within South Gyeongsang Province.
Based on the results of this evaluation, Yangsan City will also receive a benefit of 30% provincial funding support out of a maximum project budget of 300 million won for follow-up support projects related to the 2026 Intensive Safety Inspection, which are scheduled to be promoted by the province.
From April 14 to June 13, Yangsan City conducted a 61-day joint inspection involving public officials, private experts, civic groups, and ordinary citizens, intensively inspecting 84 facilities within the city that were considered at risk of disasters or accidents.
This year, inspections were carried out in accordance with newly established intensive safety inspection guidelines. The mayor and vice mayor participated directly on-site, and the city achieved various results by sharing safety programs in collaboration with related organizations such as the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.
Mayor Na Dongyeon emphasized, "This intensive safety inspection should not remain a one-time event but must be established as a regular inspection system. Expanding voluntary inspections with resident participation is also an important task," adding, "In the long term, we will introduce an integrated safety management system based on smart technology to build a more efficient safety management framework."
