Police Refer Two Officials to Prosecution Over 'Soil Fall Accident' at Eunpyeong Apartment Site
Two site officials have been referred to the prosecution in connection with the death of a worker who was struck and killed by falling soil at an apartment construction site in Eunpyeong District, Seoul.
On September 2, the Eunpyeong Police Station in Seoul announced that a site manager in his 30s and an excavator operator in his 50s have been sent to the prosecution without detention on charges of occupational negligence resulting in death.
On June 27, a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, died after being struck by falling soil at the construction site of the Daejo 1 District redevelopment project in Eunpyeong District.
At the time of the accident, backfilling work was underway to fill a 15-meter-deep space beneath the building with soil.

The police have investigated the case on the grounds that the excavator operator dumped soil without giving Mr. A prior warning, leading to the accident.
