Siheung to Notify Local Tax Delinquencies via KakaoTalk
Implementation of Mobile Electronic Document Delivery System
On September 2, the city of Siheung in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will implement the "Mobile Local Tax Electronic Notification Service," which sends notifications related to local tax assessments and delinquencies via KakaoTalk.
This service allows taxpayers to receive information on local taxes and non-tax revenues-including tax items, amounts, and payment deadlines-through KakaoTalk notification messages without any separate application. Taxpayers who receive the notification can authenticate their identity, view the documents, and conveniently pay their taxes using linked payment methods such as KakaoPay.
The city expects that introducing this service will address issues such as lost or neglected mail, address discrepancies, concerns about personal information leaks, and delivery delays associated with traditional paper notifications, while also reducing administrative costs by approximately 50%.
Siheung Mayor Lim Byeongtaek stated, "Electronic delivery will not only reduce costs but also establish a digital-based K-administration innovation model. We will continue to provide tax administration services that meet the expectations of our citizens."
