Superintendent Lim Taehee Visits Tunisia, Proposes Four Initiatives Including Gyeonggi Education Content
On September 1 (local time), Gyeonggi Province Superintendent of Education Taehee Lim signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Tunisian Ministry of Education.
Under this agreement, the two organizations will collaborate in various areas, including: expanding digital education-based activities; supporting student-led mutual exchanges; promoting exchanges of educational policies and institutions for future education; strengthening educational activities utilizing artificial intelligence (AI); and cooperating to support vocational education.
Superintendent Lim’s visit to Tunisia was arranged following a proposal by Tunisian Minister of Education Nouredine Alnouri at the '2024 UNESCO International Forum on the Future of Education' hosted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education in December last year. At the event, Minister Alnouri expressed his interest in Gyeonggi’s educational policies and suggested establishing avenues for cooperation between the two institutions.
At the signing ceremony, Minister Nouredine Alnouri stated, "The experience and advanced educational technologies accumulated by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will be of great help," adding, "Our high school textbooks even include content introducing Korea’s development process."

View original imageHe further commented, "Cooperation is needed in three areas: 'digital education,' which ensures that every student receives quality education regardless of income level or individual circumstances; 'Korean language education,' which provides language content to Tunisian students who wish to learn Korean amid rising interest in Korea; and 'vocational education,' which helps Tunisian youth not only secure good jobs but also pursue global opportunities."
In response, Superintendent Lim proposed four practical areas for educational cooperation between the two countries: building digital infrastructure and systems; strengthening teacher competencies; providing educational content; and collaborating on vocational education.

Superintendent Lim remarked, "MOUs often become the 'end of the work,' but for us, this is the 'beginning.' Since paths that are not frequently traveled tend to disappear, let us strive to ensure systematic and continuous exchanges between our two countries."
