New Department of Biomedical Science to Recruit First Freshmen
Changes in Liberal Arts Division Operation for 2026 Academic Year
Seoul National University of Science and Technology will admit 1,752 students, accounting for 69.6% of its total intake, through the early admission process for the 2026 academic year. The newly established Department of Biomedical Science will recruit its first cohort of freshmen.
The number of students to be selected for each early admission track is as follows: 526 students (20.9%) through the High School Recommendation Track (school records-based), 478 students (19.0%) through the School Life Excellence Track, 85 students (3.4%) through the Creative Convergence Talent Track (comprehensive school records-based), 177 students (6.9%) through the Equal Opportunity Track, 168 students (6.7%) through the Essay Track, and 72 students (2.9%) through the Practical Skills Track. The application period runs from September 8 to 12, 2025.
For the High School Recommendation Track, applicants must have graduated (or be expected to graduate) from a regular domestic high school after February 2023 and must be recommended by their high school principal. The minimum academic requirement for the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) is a combined score of grade 7 or better in any two sections. The required CSAT sections are not limited by academic track, and only one score from the elective subjects is considered.
For the School Life Excellence Track, the first stage selects three times the number of available spots based entirely on document review. In the second stage, the final successful candidates are determined by combining 70% of the first stage score and 30% from the interview. The first stage document review uses only the school records as evaluation material. In the interview, 35% is allocated to academic competency, 40% to career competency, and 25% to community competency, all based on the submitted documents.
The Creative Convergence Talent Track is for freshmen applying to the Department of Artificial Intelligence Applications, Department of Intelligent Semiconductor Engineering, and Department of Future Energy Convergence in the College of Creative Convergence, as well as the Department of Biomedical Science in the College of Energy and Bio. The selection process is the same as the School Life Excellence Track.
