Icheon Records Highest Employment Rate for Young and Middle-Aged Adults in Gyeonggi at 72.5%

The employment rate for young and middle-aged adults in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, was found to be the highest among all cities and counties in the province.
On September 1, the Icheon city government announced that, according to the "2025 Regional Employment Survey for the First Half of the Year" released by Statistics Korea, the employment rate for those aged 15 to 64 in Icheon reached 72.5%, the highest in Gyeonggi Province.
According to the statistics, as of June, the employment rate in Gyeonggi Province stood at 64.7%, which is 1.2 percentage points higher than the national average of 63.5%. Among the cities and counties in the province, Hwaseong had the highest rate at 67.1%, followed by Icheon at 66.3% and Osan at 65%. Yangju recorded the highest unemployment rate at 5.4%, while Yangpyeong had the lowest at 1.7%.
In particular, Icheon ranked first in Gyeonggi Province for the employment rate among those aged 15 to 64, with a rate of 72.5%. This is 0.6 percentage points higher than Hwaseong, which recorded 71.9%.
The city cited several factors behind this high employment rate, including continuous job creation policies, region-specific employment support projects, and employment assistance programs for youth, women, and middle-aged residents.
