Daejeon to Host "Daejeon Strategic Industry Forum - Semiconductor Industry"
Exploring Strategies for Fostering Convergent Industries
Centered on Semiconductors, Biohealth, Defense, and Aerospace
A forum will be held to explore ways to discover new growth engines through the convergence of Daejeon’s strategic industries, ABCDQR (Aerospace, Biohealth, Semiconductor, Defense, Quantum, and Robotics), with a focus on semiconductors.
The city of Daejeon, together with the Daejeon Institute of Science & Technology for Enterprise & People (DiSTEP), will host the "2025 Daejeon Strategic Industry Forum - Semiconductor Industry" at 2 p.m. on September 5 at the Matrix Hall on the second floor of the KI Building at KAIST.
This forum, under the theme "Strategies for Creating Daejeon-Style Convergent New Industries through Semiconductor and Strategic Industries," will feature Lee Seokjae, Head of the Nano Convergence Technology Division at the National NanoFab Center, presenting on "The Trends in Semiconductor-Bio Convergence Industries and Strategies for Fostering Daejeon-Style Industries."
The event will introduce the "Bio-CMOS Platform Construction Project," which accelerates the bio-digital transformation, and will present growth strategies for collaboration with companies in the Daejeon region.
Next, Kang Dongmin, Head of the RF/Power Component Research Laboratory at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, will present on "Semiconductor-Aerospace and Defense Convergence Strategies and Fostering as Regional Future High-Tech Industries."
Kang will introduce the "Global TOP Strategic Research Group" project, which is promoting the development of space-grade semiconductor technology, and will share plans for industry-academia-research-government collaboration to establish a defense and aerospace semiconductor industrial ecosystem in Daejeon.
Yoo Kyungsik, Head of the Semiconductor and Energy Industry Center at Daejeon Technopark, will present on "Building a Semiconductor-Based Regional Industrial Ecosystem and Corporate Support Strategies," based on Daejeon's technological capabilities and specialized workforce.
After the presentations, there will be a comprehensive discussion and on-site Q&A session, where participants will engage in in-depth discussions on differentiated strategies and the potential for creating new industries through the convergence of the local semiconductor industry and strategic industries.
