These projects include: establishing a global AI computing center; attracting the construction of a National Veterans Nursing Home in the East Coast region of North Gyeongsang Province; building an integrated center for carbon neutrality technology development (DACU demonstration); creating a complex marine leisure tourism city; expanding a smart salmon aquaculture cluster; bidding to host the 33rd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2028; establishing a regional essential emergency medical system; creating a subtropical smart agriculture development zone; and developing future water resources through seawater desalination for industrial use.
To ensure swift implementation, the city plans to identify detailed action plans for each relevant ministry and to concretize projects through active consultations. In addition, Pohang City will further strengthen its strategic cooperation with central government ministries and political circles to secure the necessary budget.
The city also intends to re-examine existing projects related to national tasks by reinforcing their logical foundation and, furthermore, to discover new projects that align with the direction of the national tasks in order to maximize policy synergy effects.
Vice Mayor Jang Sanggil stated, "This set of national tasks appears to place significant emphasis on AI and carbon neutrality, which are highly relevant to the city's industrial structure and environmental conditions. We will design large-scale projects related to AI and carbon neutrality and develop them into national projects."
