Jeju Expands Tumbler Discount Stores... Up to 500 KRW Support Per Cup
Recruiting Participating Stores Including Cafes and Beverage Shops
Expansion of Tumbler Washer Support Program
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is continuously expanding the number of stores offering discounts to promote the use of tumblers.
Jeju Province is accepting applications on a rolling basis from businesses wishing to participate in the tumbler discount store support program. The initiative, which aims to reduce the use of disposable cups and increase tumbler usage, provides up to 500 KRW per cup to stores that offer discounts to customers using tumblers.
The program is open to individually operated or franchise-affiliated cafes, beverage shops, fast food outlets, and bakeries within the province. Participating stores enter their discount details on a dedicated website, and the reimbursement is deposited into the store owner's account the following month. The support period runs from June to December, or until the tumbler discount support fund is exhausted.
The province also plans to increase next year's budget for supporting tumbler discount stores and installing tumbler washers in order to further promote the culture of tumbler use. This year, as part of a participatory budgeting project, Jeju supported the installation of 30 tumbler washers at 23 sports, cultural, and youth facilities.
