Police Investigate "No-Show Scam"
Suspect Posed as Corporate Employee to Steal Material Costs
The police have launched an investigation into a so-called "no-show scam," in which a perpetrator posed as an employee of a large corporation and approached a construction contractor for interior work, then stole material costs.
According to the Paju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province on August 26, a tile contractor in the Paju area received a request on August 22 to carry out interior work for an executive office of a major corporation. The client introduced a specific tile company and asked the contractor to transfer the material costs in advance. The contractor then sent 3.3 million won to the designated account.
