Daejeon "Tram" Construction Begins Underground Section...Partial Traffic Restrictions
Partial Traffic Restrictions at Bultigogae and Daejeon Station Underpass Starting in September
Public Awareness Campaign Launched to Seek Citizens' Cooperation
Temporary Inconvenience for a Safer, More Convenient Public Transit Future
With the start of underground construction for the Daejeon Tram scheduled for September 2025, vehicle access will be partially restricted at Bultigogae and the Daejeon Station Underpass.
In anticipation of these traffic controls, the Daejeon City Government launched a public awareness campaign to seek citizens' understanding and cooperation.
This campaign was held simultaneously at 8:00 a.m. on August 27, 2025, at both the Daejeon Station Underpass and the Seogu Seobu Fire Station three-way intersection. All employees of the Daejeon Urban Railway Construction Bureau, as well as representatives from construction companies and supervisory teams, participated to inform commuters about the upcoming traffic control plans and to request their cooperation.
The traffic restrictions will be fully implemented starting next month. At the Daejeon Station Underpass, from September 1, 2025, two out of three lanes in the direction of Soje-dong will be closed. At the Bultigogae underground section, from September 2, 2025, four out of ten lanes near the Seobu Fire Station three-way intersection will be restricted.
Han Kyuyoung, Director of the Daejeon Tram Construction Division, stated, "The underground construction of the tram is an essential process to ensure safe and efficient tram operations within the urban traffic environment," and added, "We ask for your active interest and cooperation so that this temporary inconvenience can lead to a more convenient and safer public transportation environment in the future."
