Gochang County Recruiting Participants for 'Mudflat Barefoot Walking Festival'
Applications Open Until September 5
Participation Is Free
Gochang County in North Jeolla Province will begin accepting applications for the '2025 Take a Moment on the Island: Gochang Mudflat Barefoot Walking Festival' starting August 30.
According to the county on August 26, this barefoot walking event is aimed at students in fifth grade and above who are interested in ecotourism and mudflat walking.
The event was designed to move away from the traditional mudflat experience focused on collecting marine life, and instead promote a sustainable way of experiencing mudflats where humans and nature can coexist.
The festival will take place on October 9 in the areas of Oejukdo and the Mandol Mudflat Experience Center in Simwon-myeon, Gochang County. The main program includes a barefoot walking event to Oejukdo, a scenic tour of Oejukdo, and beverage and snack booths, offering participants a hands-on opportunity to experience the natural environment of the Gochang mudflats.
Anyone in fifth grade or above with an interest in ecotourism and mudflat walking is eligible to apply, and a total of 250 participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications can be submitted online from August 30 to September 5, and participation is free of charge.
