KORAIL to Begin Chuseok Holiday Train Ticket Reservations from September 1
Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced that advance reservations for train tickets during this year's Chuseok holiday will be accepted for four days starting from September 1. The reservations apply to trains operating for 11 days, from October 2 to October 12.
Reservations can be made through the dedicated holiday reservation page on the KORAIL website. Only registered railway members can make reservations online. Priority reservations will be available for transportation-vulnerable groups from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 1 and 2. Seniors aged 65 or older, registered persons with disabilities under the Act on Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, and national merit recipients eligible for transportation support can reserve tickets first.
Advance reservations for transportation-vulnerable groups are only allowed if the individual themselves is traveling on the train. The name of the transportation-vulnerable passenger will be displayed on the ticket. If the ticket is misused, such as when the eligible person does not board the train, participation in the next holiday's advance reservation will be restricted. On September 3 and 4, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., all citizens, including seniors, persons with disabilities, and national merit recipients eligible for transportation support, can reserve Chuseok train tickets online.
Chuseok holiday train tickets can be paid for from 5 p.m. on September 4. Tickets reserved in advance by transportation-vulnerable groups must be paid for by midnight on September 10, and tickets reserved by the general public must be paid for by midnight on September 7. If payment is not completed by the deadline, the reservation will be automatically canceled and assigned to those on the waiting list.

If online payment is difficult, customers can pay by phone through the railway customer center or at the station counter. Tickets paid for by phone must be issued at any station counter nationwide after verifying identification before boarding the train. Some payment providers, such as Kakao and Naver, will hold promotions to refund a portion of the payment amount to selected customers through a lottery.
