On August 25, Haenam County in South Jeolla Province announced that the Haenam County Education Foundation will implement the "2025 Green Talent Settlement-Type Employment Package Support Project" as part of its Education Development Special Zone initiative.
This project aims to provide practical support and facilitate local settlement for unemployed young people (ages 18 to 35) seeking employment in green industries, such as renewable energy, climate change response, marine industries, and artificial intelligence (AI). The support consists of two components: the "Haenam Genius Package" and the "Settlement-Type Support Fund."
The Haenam Genius Package offers career development support funds (up to 600,000 KRW) for obtaining certifications, as well as interview and transportation expenses (100,000 KRW per interview, up to six times) for interviews at local green industry companies. If a recipient of the package secures employment in the green industry sector in Haenam, works for more than three months, and signs a lease for a local rental home, they can receive an additional settlement-type support fund of up to 1,050,000 KRW.
Applications for the Genius Package will be accepted from September 1 to December 15, and for the Settlement-Type Support Fund from December 1 to 15. Only recipients of the Genius Package are eligible to apply for the Settlement-Type Support Fund.
Young people wishing to apply can download the application form from the Haenam County Office or Haenam County Education Foundation website and submit it directly to the Education Development Special Zone Task Force Team.

A foundation representative stated, "We plan to actively support young people in finding new opportunities in the local green industry sector," adding, "By providing practical support to reduce the financial burden during the job search process, we expect to see an increase in employment rates in green industries and local settlement through population inflow."
