Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters (Director Lee Seyong) announced that Shin Hanul Unit 1 (pressurized water reactor, 1.4 million kW class) ceased power generation at 8:56 a.m. on August 25 and began its second scheduled preventive maintenance, which will last approximately 73 days.

During the preventive maintenance period, Shin Hanul Unit 1 will carry out fuel removal and inspection, a complete disassembly inspection of the reactor coolant pump, and other tasks. After statutory inspections under the Nuclear Safety Act and confirmation of compliance by regulatory authorities, the unit is scheduled to resume power generation in November, pending approval for operation from the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission.
