'Kpop Demon Hunters' OST Ranks No. 2 on US Billboard for 4 Consecutive Weeks
Top 10 for Nine Consecutive Weeks
Cumulative Sales Reach 747,000 Copies
The original soundtrack (OST) of the Netflix animated film 'Kpop Demon Hunters' has ranked No. 2 for four consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200, the main album chart in the United States.
According to a preview article released by Billboard on the 24th (local time), the album maintained its No. 2 position, following country singer Morgan Wallen's 'I'm The Problem,' which has held the top spot for 12 weeks.
During this week's tracking period, the 'Kpop Demon Hunters' OST recorded 108,000 album units, a 3% increase compared to the previous week.
The album debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 last year and has never fallen out of the top 10 since. Its weekly rankings have been No. 3, No. 2, No. 5, No. 3, No. 2, No. 2, No. 2, No. 2, and No. 2, reaching No. 2 for a total of five non-consecutive weeks. It has remained in the top 10 for nine consecutive weeks since its release, with cumulative sales now reaching 747,000 copies.
It is rare for a soundtrack to achieve such a record. The OST for the 2015 film 'Fifty Shades of Grey' stayed in the top 10 for 14 weeks, while the OST for the 1994 film 'Forrest Gump' held the No. 2 spot for five consecutive weeks without ever reaching No. 1.
Billboard predicted, "The ranking could rise further with the sing-along event being held in theaters this weekend."
